Old Perth - Solera - Cask Strength

Sherry uses a complex maturation system called Solera, involving multiple casks and fractional blending. In Solera, barrels are arranged in tiers called criaderas with each tier holding wine of a specific age, with the oldest tier, also called Solera, containing the most complex and aged wine, ready for bottling. When wine is removed for bottling, it is replenished by wine from the next youngest tier above, which is filled in turn by younger wine, continuing the cycle.

Old Perth Sherry Matured Malt Whisky is defined by this unique Sherry making tradition. They incorporate the use of five 70-year-old traditional Sherry butts, housed in Warehouse #1 at Aberargie in Perth.

This release is a marriage of liquids drawn from each of the five 70-year-old original Sherry butts from Jerez, 'SOLERA' captures 7 decades of the finest quality drinking-Sherry influence, highlighting the unique process and value created by Morrison Distillers and their Old Perth Solera maturation system.
